Super Sprint put three steering wheels on one cabinet in 1986, proving that elbow room could be part of the multiplayer challenge. There is a practical reason this matters in games. A perfect racing-game corner is a tiny three-part puzzle: brake, turn, accelerate; doing any one of them too early usually ruins the other two. The safest place for experimental aerodynamics remains a browser tab.

The curious bit
The old Le Mans start made drivers run across the track to their parked cars, jump in and race away. Safety concerns eventually killed the tradition, which is why modern endurance races begin much more sensibly. The rabbit hole keeps going: The first electric traffic signal appeared in Cleveland in 1914. It used red and green lights; yellow was added to many later systems because drivers needed a warning between stop and go.
